Peter Panposter for Peter Pan

Darlington Theatre Players are proud to announce their forthcoming production of J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan: a worthy choice for the final season in 2008.

Sir James Matthew Barrie introduced this timeless classic of the boy who would not grow up to a sceptical, then delighted, Edwardian audience at the Duke of York Theatre in London in 1904. Douglas Sutherland-Bruce (Romeo and Juliet and The Importance of Being Earnest), in his direction of the Darlington Theatre Players' production of this enchanting play, has based his interpretation on the original script, written over one hundred years ago.

Although not a pantomime or musical, the play, with wonderful sets (designed by Richard Coleman), rascally pirates and Red Indians and, of course, Nana the dog, is sure to delight all age groups.

According to the wishes of Sir James Barrie, royalties from all productions of Peter Pan were for many years required to be donated to Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London. Although this requirement does not apply today, Darlington Theatre Players will be donating part proceeds to Princess Margaret Children's Hospital in Perth.

The large cast features Amy Rusotti as Peter Pan, Victoria Luxton as Wendy and Eliot McCann as both Mr. Darling and Captain Hook.
